Thank you for your interest in the African American Mutual Assistance Network, Inc-(AAMAN). AAMAN was Founded on May 15, 2003, in Minnesota by Mr. Cecil Adams, Jr. and by Mrs. Valjean J. Adams and received its Certificate of Incorporation on April 5, 2006, and received its IRS 501 (c) 3 tax-exempt status in June 2006.

In 2005 AAMAN laid the foundation for the first combined La Crosse, WI and Winona, MN Martian Luther King Junior Celebrations and the area's first White Privilege Workshops. AAMAN was one of the first stakeholders to assist with the establishment of The Greater La Crosse Area Diversity Council, La Crosse Area Family Collaborative, and the first Juneteenth Citywide Celebrations.

AAMAN's Purpose: The purpose of the African American Mutual Assistance Network, Inc. is to increase partnerships between the African American Mutual Assistance Network-(AAMAN) and US communities to address issues of diversity and inclusion affecting our Nation’s future and advise on ways to address racial injustice; and provide key external support for AAMAN's 2023FWD Strategic Framework; which promotes racial justice, diversity, and inclusion to reinvigorate the US’s mental health, economy, and enhance the quality of life for all its citizens. Provide educational resources to children and young adults in order to realize the possibility of a successful and productive life. Develop employment, affordable housing, and educational opportunities for low-income families while inspiring children to learn, adults to teach and communities to move forward together.

We believe the quality of the investment we make in our youth and their families will help to positively shape their future. All of these individuals represent the promise of accomplishing great things and deserve every opportunity to fulfill that promise without restrictions.....AAMAN!

                                                                                      Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What can I donate? You can donate almost any vehicle, including cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles and recreational vehicles. They do not have to be currently running. Your vehicle donation will be sold at an auction or to salvage depending on condition.

  • Is my donation tax-deductible? Yes, the African American Mutual Assistance Network, Inc. is a non-profit organization and all donations qualify as a charitable deduction on your federal income tax return.

  • What do I need to donate my car? The title of the car must be in your name. We will also need some information about where the car is located and the condition of the car. This will assist us in scheduling appropriate towing arrangements.

  • Will you pick up my car? A towing company will call you to schedule the pick-up of your vehicle. You will need to give the driver the keys to the vehicle as well as your signed title.

  • How is the value of my car determined? The IRS allows you to take a charitable tax deduction on your federal income tax form equal to the amount the vehicle sells for at auction unless it sells for less than $500. If your vehicle sells for less than $500 you may deduct no more than $500. If your vehicle sells for more than $500, you will need to include the IRS form 1098C. Vehicles for Charity will supply this documentation after your vehicle sells. We recommend you consult your tax advisor with questions about your deduction.
